You look forward to Sunday every week. That is the day you go to church and enjoy good Bible teaching, music, fellowship, and above all, you encounter the presence of the living God. You call that day holy. It is a holy day, since your perspective changes from earthly things to spiritual things. Also, you enter the presence of the Almighty God.
Have you ever thought that weekdays can be just as holy as Sunday? Monday is just as holy of a day as Sunday is a holy day. The Lord never wanted, nor taught in His word, that Sunday is the only day to worship Him. Elbert Hubbard, writer, editor, and printer, was a brilliant eccentric. On the front page of his magazine, The Philistine, he once printed a single sentence: “Remember the Weekday to Keep It Holy.” Life ought not to be divided between sacred and secular. Monday can be as significant and sacred as Sunday.
Scripture talks to you about being “afflicted in every way…perplexed…persecuted…struck down” (2 Cor. 4:7-9). Thus, you need refreshment and a closeness to God. Just a few verses later, it says “do not lose heart.” Yes, keep the faith. Keep pressing on. Keep worshipping the Lord God. The Word of God does not say to wait until Sunday to do this. The Bible says that you do this because your “inner man is being renewed day by day.” This is all stated in 2 Cor. 4:16. Every day your spiritual life is being renewed in Christ.
Sunday is definitely a holy day, but also is every weekday of the week. Do not get caught up into thinking that life is composed of holy days and secular days. That is just not true. Every day is a day to uplift and worship the Lord God, no matter where you are or what you are doing.
Yes, Monday is a holy day. So, lift your spirits and worship the Lord Monday through Saturday, just like you do on Sunday. You will be amazed at just how that little mind shift will affect your mental and spiritual well-being.
