When you get a job, everybody wants to start at the top. You want the big bucks and the power to tell everybody what to do. If not, then maybe you just want to be your own boss and do things your way. If the facts are known, you probably want to be higher up the corporate ladder than you presently are in your workplace.
Moving up the corporate ladder takes time. It, also, takes a certain amount of maturity. Samuel Smiles talks about the authority in the corporate world, when he says: “There are many tests by which a gentleman may be known; but there is one which never fails—how does he exercise power over those subordinate to him?” That, my friend, reveals your true inner being. The manner in which you treat people lower on the totem pole than you reveals much about your character. You may be in a place where you exercise authority over other people. The manner in which you carry that out reveals how much you appreciate your position, and how much you remember how life was before you got to that position.
The Holy Bible gives instruction to those moving up the corporate ladder. It gives the plain and simple truth needed to maintain a proper attitude between the boss and the employee(s). This verse appears in Romans 13:1, “…For there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God.” That means that the whole process of you moving up the ladder is ordained and actually orchestrated by God.
First, realize that as you work and move up the corporate ladder, God is the One opening those doors for you and blessing you with that position. Next, don’t forget where you came from and treat those you are over with the same dignity and respect you once wanted those over you to treat you. That is the proper way for you to move up the ladder.
