Look around you and observe the people who seem to have the most friends. They are the same people who others think have the world by the tail. That is the individual who is the life of the party and everyone loves to be around. No matter how bad your day may be, just a few minutes around such people makes your worries disappear in thin air. The result: you feel better.
If that person is a Christian, then they will be quick to tell you that their joy for life comes from a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Jesus being their best Friend is not some automatic phenomenon or something reserved for special people. Dynamic Christians tell you the secret in life is letting Christ be Lord of their life. Gypsy Smith told of a man who said he had received no inspiration from the Bible although he had “gone through it several times.” “Let it go through you once,” replied Smith, “then you will tell a different story!” Those wise words are worth your time to stop and let them sink into that cranium of yours.
The Holy Bible, being the roadmap to successful living while on earth, shares the secret to living a happy, fulfilled life during your earthly pilgrimage: “If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love; just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love. These things I have spoken to you so that My joy may be in you, and that your joy may be made full” (John 15:10-11). Notice first the condition of the promise, “If you keep My commandments.” Yes, the prerequisite is that you obey the Word of God. The result of your obedience is “that your joy will be made full.” That means that Jesus’ joy will fill your glass and it will overflow. Your overflowing joy will permeate your entire body so fully that it flows over into everyone you meet on a daily basis. But more importantly, your very own internal joy originates from the eternal Son of God, “that My joy may be in you.” Now, that is something to shout: “Halleluiah!”
