You strive throughout life to be successful, and thus receive huge rewards. While in school, you work hard at making good grades to be rewarded with a job that gives you a good salary. In that job, you focus on doing your very best, in order that, you can make more money.
What is true of the material world, can be said of the spiritual world, too. You invest your talents or gifts to receive heavenly rewards. J. Hudson Taylor, a missionary giant of yesteryear, gives you the secret to using those spiritual gifts so you can receive the maximum heaven rewards. When someone compliment J. Hudson Taylor on the work on the China Inland Mission that he had founded, he said, “It seemed to me that God had looked over the whole world to find a man who was weak enough to do His work, and when He at last found me, He said, ‘He is weak enough—he’ll do.’ All God’s giants are weak men who have done great things for God because they reckoned on His being with them.”
Just a few hours before Jesus was taken into custody to be crucified, He tells His disciples the “secret” to them doing great things on earth and receiving a big heavenly reward. “I am the vine you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing” (John 15:5, emphasis added). The “secret” Jesus told the disciples is that their success in receiving a spiritual bumper crop is to be fully committed to Him. Then, and only then, does the huge rewards come to you.
Thus, to receive those huge heavenly rewards, follow Jesus completely. Being weak means that you realize that the “only” way that anything that happens for the glory of God in your life occurs by God doing it in your life. Let go and let God handle it!
