As you live your life, letting Jesus Christ shine through your life, you run across some people who say they do not believe there is a God. Whether they admit it or not, they are an atheist. Do not shy away from telling them the Good News of Jesus Christ.
The protests some atheists go through to make a public stance on their belief just does not make logical sense. It is not enough for them to believe what they believe, they want the Christian view to be eradicated. They push their view point on everyone else. Mahatma Gandhi was once approached by an atheist with the request that he organize and promote an anti-God society. Gandhi replied, “It amazes me to find an intelligent person who fights against something which he does not at all believe exists.” Even Gandhi could not rationalize the zeal of the atheist to force his/her belief(s) on someone else.
The Wisdom Literature in the Scriptures has much to say of the atheist. Proverbs 14:1 states it plain and simple: “The fool has said in his heart, ‘There is no God…’”. Yes, the Word of God calls all who believe that there is no God “a. fool.” So, do not shun away from calling the atheist a fool; it is biblical. The Holy Bible even tells you why an atheist is a fool: “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction” (Prov. 1:7). Because an atheist does not acknowledge the “wisdom and instruction” of God, he is a fool. Also, the atheist does not fear the Lord God, which is essential to being a Christian.
The beginning for anyone to come into the kingdom of God is to have a “fear of the Lord.” Since the atheist does not start at this beginning point, he cannot be a Christian. Thank the Lord Jesus right now that He started you at the beginning by fearing God, which resulted in your salvation!
