You like life when you can feel it and put your arms around it. Most of the visible world fits that description. When something is not able to be touched or you can not put your arms around it, then you are unsure and often skeptical.
When it comes to your Christian walk with God, one area that you feel unsure of yourself is in the area of holiness. You know you need to be holy but are not quite sure how to flesh that out in your daily living. One person adds a little light to assist you in daily living a holy life—holiness vanishes when you talk about it, but becomes gloriously conspicuous when you live it. Whenever you try to describe holiness in words, your mouth gets all tied in knots and no matter what you say, it does not exactly describe what holiness means to you. Then again, when you live a holy life, that others can observe, holiness takes on flesh which others can observe.
To explain how to live a holy life in words can best be found by referring to the Holy Bible, “but like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your behavior, because it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy” (1 Peter 1:16). Notice, the verse says, “be holy yourselves in all your behavior.” That is important. Holiness is not something just associated with the church or Christian living. Everything you do is to be done in a holy manner. The Christian lifestyle is to be accomplished in every detail and every situation in your life; there is no such thing as handling some areas of life according to Scripture and other areas by secular philosophies. This verse commands you to be holy “in all your behavior.” How can you live your life in a holy manner? The end of the verse answers that question, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.” In other words, to live a holy life means living your life by handling life situations the way God would handle them. Then the illusive become visual.
