Pastor’s Pen
It feels good to have a good, old fashioned, belly laugh. Laughter is good is what doctors, who study the body, tell us. For that moment we forget all the worries and cares that we have and bask in pure joyous ecstasy.
We are wise if we live our lives more full of joy than to have a joyless attitude. Thomas Carlyle had the right idea: “Wondrous is the strength of cheerfulness and its power of endurance. The cheerful man will do more in the same time, will do it better, and will persevere in it longer, than the sad or sullen.” Now, joy will make a difference not only in how we feel, but also in how effective we do the things we need to do on a daily basis.
Jesus is the highest example of how to live. There are several examples in the New Testament that I believe are down right hilarious. One of our problems is that, as Christians, we take life too seriously. I agree that we have a very serious work ahead of us, but since when does that mean that we must take everything we do and say looking like we just sucked on a lemon.
Jesus must have laughed; after all he was 100% human and 100% God. In fact, He commands believers to lighten up and enjoy life. Jesus says in John 17:13, “But now I come to You, and these things I speak in the world, that they may have My joy fulfilled in themselves.”
Let’s live every day full of Jesus’ joy!!!!!!!
